YAY…..You’re getting married, time to send out the Wedding Invitations, or is it Save the Date cards which need to be emailed?
You have to let everyone know your amazing news, so they can keep the date free. So, how are you going to let all your friends know?
What IS the difference between Wedding Invitations and Save The Date cards
A Save The Date card simply tells the people you want to come to your wedding, that you have decided to get married and what date you’ve chosen.
Save The Date cards are usually pretty casual; they don’t need much information on them. Include things like;
- you’re getting married
- to keep the date free
- both your names
- the date you’ve chosen
Save The Date cards can be a lot of fun to design and it’s good to try and find something which represents you as a couple. A lot of brides-to-be design their own cards using programs and apps like Canva. Some couples use pictures of themselves, some draw cartoons, some go for traditional wedding pics or some even use pretty patterns – it’s totally up to you what is on them.
They can be printed and sent out in the post, emailed, texted, messaged or Facebooked.
Wedding Invitations are a lot more important to the success of your dream day. They not only give your guests all the information they need to know but also ‘set the theme’ of your wedding.
Wedding Invitations need to have;
- the bride and grooms name
- the date and time you’re getting married
- the venue of the ceremony and where the reception will be
- the time and how formal the reception will be
- RSVP (date you want know if your guests can make it or not)
The style of invitation often subtly tells your guests what type of wedding they should be prepared for. Check out our Science of Wedding Invitations blog to help you work out the type of invitation you should choose. @Geralt
Some older rellies might try and tell you, every bride needs to have white printed Wedding Invitations in the post at least ten months before the ceremony. That might be true if you are going to have a full on, everything included, everyone invited super wedding, however, the general rule these days is;
Save The Date Cards should be sent out as soon as you pick the date
Wedding Invitations should be distributed at least eight weeks before the wedding (usually a lot earlier)
