Located on the doorstep to the Yarra Valley, Foothills Conference Centre is nestled amongst 20 acres of native trees and gardens. Foothills provides a unique experience like no other, with its wide range of functions, events, and accommodation options that you can choose from.
Hidden among the leaves and branches live native wildlife that roam freely throughout our gardens. At the break of dawn–away from the busy roads and bustling shopping centres–our feathered friends sing their gentle songs which echo throughout the property every morning.
Two common birds can be observed around our grounds:
- The Crimson Rosellas – part of the Parrot family, with crimson plumage and bright blue cheeks.
- The Superb Fair-wren – small sized birds. Males are more noticeable with their rich blue and black plumage above and on the throat, while females are mostly brown with a dull red-orange area around the eye and a brown bill.
We also take pride in our extensive gardens, which host a wide variety of native plants. Three of our favourite varieties are:
- Bottlebrush –an iconic shrub known for their red cylinder-shaped flowers, which provide food for a range of wildlife such as birds, insects and possums.
- Spider flower – known as Grevilleas with noticeably unique foliage, and colourful flowers that attract small nectar feeding birds.
- Wattle – also known as Acacia, being the Australian national flower with its large fluffy golden-yellow flower-heads.
We’re so thankful for our amazing grounds and gardens team, who work tirelessly to maintain our beautiful venue.
